Romy Hooper has been narrating audiobooks for over a decade, and has extensive experience in the world of commercial and gaming voice overs. She works with Blind + Low Vision NZ and has narrated over 100 titles for their members, including popular magazine periodicals such as National Geographic, the New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, the NZ Listener, Cuisine Magazine and more. All of her novels are available for members of Blind + Low Vision. Romy has her own home studio where she narrates for independent authors on a case by case basis.
She has also completed titles for Audiobooks NZ, New Zealand's only audiobook production company and started their podcast Sound Salad, interviewing authors and those in the literary community with company CEO Theo Gibson. Episodes are available here and on Spotify and Apple podcasts.
She is most proud to have narrated Blindingly Obvious by Minnie Baragwanath, which sought to be the country’s most accessible book, appearing in ebook, audiobook and braille formats.
She is a New Zealand and Australian accent narrator for US based audiobook production companies Deyan Audio and Podium Audio and has just completed the 6 book romantic fiction series A Boss in a Billion by Serenity Woods, available on Audible here.
She is represented by Johnson Laird Management for commercial voice over work, and has many years experience in brand representation. She also voices multiple characters for popular NZ game Path of Exile.
